Shipping is left out: what the buyer pays for postage goes to the label. Etsy also takes its percentage on shipping, so real fees run a little higher than shown. Rates are Etsy’s published US rates, checked September 2026 (6.5% transaction, 3% + $0.25 processing, $0.20 listing, Offsite Ads 15%). Sales tax excluded.

Real orders drift from the rate card. Coupons change the base the percentages apply to. Offsite Ads only hits some orders, at 12% or 15%. Processing rates differ by country. Some regions add regulatory fees.

Questions about Etsy fees

How much does Etsy take from a $20 sale?

$2.35 at the published US rates: $1.30 transaction fee, $0.85 payment processing, $0.20 listing fee. If the order came from an Offsite Ad, add $3.00 for $5.35. Both figures are on the item price alone; fees on shipping come on top. Etsy fees for 3D print sellers walks through each fee on a full order.

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?

Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee applies to the shipping the buyer pays as well as the item, and payment processing is charged on the whole order total. On a $20 item with $5.00 shipping that is about $0.48 more than the item-only figure above ($0.33 transaction, $0.15 processing). What margin should a 3D print have?

There is no number to copy. Margin is what is left after Etsy’s fees and every cost of making and packing the item, and your own pay comes out of it, so the useful check is what the sale pays you an hour for your hands-on minutes, not the percentage on its own.
